What is the Drawback of Repeated Use of Emergency Contraceptive Pills Emergency contraceptive pill is used to prevent unwanted pregnancies. These should not be confused with regular contraception pills. Depending on your cycle an Emergency contraceptive pill prevents the release of the egg or if the egg has been released it prevents the egg and the sperm to combine, and if this has also already taken place, the pill prevents the zygote to attach itself to the uterus. It is highly recommended to consume the Morning after Pill as soon as the unprotected sex or forced sex has taken place. Most pills still work up to 3 days (72 hours) post the intercourse.
